Evening All, I just wanted to post and say a big thank you to the lovely owner of the Garden Restaurant for making us feel so welcome and the exceptional service (authentic Chinese cuisine ). It is the second time I have been to the Garden Restaurant. The restaurant is under new ownership and the owner is worried about business going slow over the past couple of weeks, I will definitely be going back to support the business. The food was excellent quality and choices, great portions at very good prices considering many places have increased costs and have restricted times you can have in a sitting. I would highly recommend trying the Garden Restaurant. It was was perfect, no rush, good service, lovely owner and delightful food. If you are planning an evening out for Christmas or New Year celebration without being rushed this is a great place, even though it is a little out of the way from the city restaurants, it was worthwhile. Compared to last year the restaurant was pretty empty except for a lot of Just Eat and Deliveroo orders l. This was veshame for a small business and she told us how worried she is getting as business has dropped in the last few weeks as she isn't in town, she had sold up in London and now owns the Garden Restaurant. If you enjoy a good Chinese meal this is the place and value for money. I missed my birthday meal on Saturday due to sickness and we cancelled she told me she makes cakes for a birthday/ anniversaries as a treat, as we have another birthday celebration we will definitely be going back on Saturday. It's a little way from town but if you want a nice evening with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere I would definitely recommend supporting this local business.

It was my first time in this restaurant, the food was delicious, the service was good, the atmosphere was calm and homely. A very beautiful outdoor garden with wonderful gazebos, a bridge, a stream and a fountain! It's a pity that it's cold today, it would be nice to sit in the garden in the open area. I will definitely come as soon as the weather is good.

The other day I was invited down to the Garden Restaurant Southampton to take some images from the menu from the new owners. The food looked and tasted amazing and the perks of the job I was asked if I wanted to take the food home. Please give this restaurant a like and a follow or even better take yourself down there, you will not be disappointed.

Had a beautiful meal there the other day. Not only was the food amazing the service was even better. A lot of restaurants seem to rush between courses but at the Garden they gave you time between courses. Absolutely recommended. Great food, great service and good prices.

really tasty! If you are looking for vegetarian dishes here, I highly recommend the minced garlic and Shanghai greens. It is crispy and juicy, and will not be dry or raw after being fried. It has the right texture and is salty and light. The store owner is also very friendly and has a good attitude!

The authentic Kung Pao chicken should boast a delightful lychee-like flavour profile, offering a pleasant blend of tanginess followed by a touch of sweetness, all complemented by the robust heat from the peppercorns and chili. Among the various options I've tried in Southampton, Garden Restaurant's rendition of Kung Pao chicken stands out as the closest to its origins. This unique flavour combination is also nicely applied, with a some variation, to their Yuxiang rousi (shredded pork in a sweet and sour sauce). A bit more kick of vinegar would have been better, but overall it’s a satisfactory rendition.

Situated out of the city centre , (near the university ) and although it lacks aesthetic luxury compared to others in the city such as 1814 , the food quality is amazing!! The prices are brilliant too !! Its relaxed friendly , i always ask for French beans cooked in garlic …. As a special order and its never any trouble !! I wouldn't go anywhere else for Chinese in Southampton ! Cant wait to visit again

First visit and wasn’t disappointed. Extensive menu .. the starters were excellent- chicken satay large and juicy with a great sauce. Mains lovely and great value. Service really friendly. Will definitely return.
